He also noted that agriculture is a seasonal business, so even a somewhat short delay in fertilizers can immediately hurt the production. He said that in the end, it all comes down to how farmers manage themselves and their production.

Nagaraja Prakasam, Partner at Acumen, India, mentioned that the supply chain is severely damaged right now. As a result, the harvests are drastically affected, with crops rotting in the fields. Meanwhile, food transport is slowly turning into a logistics nightmare, which makes the international transport of fresh goods extremely difficult and expensive, which can seriously affect their production output while simultaneously increasing food waste.
Jos Boeren, Head of Agriculture & Food Investment, France, said that the critical challenge that farmers are facing currently is how to find a way to secure productivity for the next generation. What he means by that is that farming is changing. It’s slowly becoming more corporate and a more complex business. He stated that to maintain the productivity of the next generation of farms, it is crucial to provide concrete solutions on how we can support families to transition to that next phase.
