Salubrum and I are on a mission to evangelize the North American healthcare system to medical tourism. We fundamentally believe that the increasing acute physician shortage in NA and the rising pressure from demand on our health systems is a wicked problem, with lowering deductibles and rising wait times being symptoms.
Medical tourism saves patients over 50-70% per procedure and offers much faster turnaround time, but the industry has historically been relegated to cosmetics and informal networks due to its Cash Pay model of healthcare.
However, headwinds have been changing since the Pandemic and payers are starting to enter the market, and companies like Salubrum will be taking advantage, by becoming the infrastructure sending patients abroad for care and the Expedia of medical tourism for patients.
We do this in two ways:
- For patients we build digital tools, like our Travelwise Passport, to make their medical tourism experience safe, affordable and easy.
- For payers we build compliance products that allow them to leverage medical tourism for their referrals.
Salubrum is a graduate of Treefrog Accelerator, uOttawa eHub and is currently part of NEXT36. Salubrum has also added Quironsalud (https://international.quironsalud.com/), the largest private healthcare provider in Spain and the 2nd largest in Europe, as our first client.
